Our History
Casa del Hortelano is a rural medieval house, bought in 1957 by Pedro "El Hortelano" and María, he being the third generation of gardeners.
The greenhouses were located in front of the house, occupying all the buildings that today sit on Calle de los Huertos. The doors of the house were opened so that "María" could sell the products that were grown.
The current generation maintains as far as possible the horticulture activities, vineyards, olive groves, flower cultivation, esparto crafts, etc. If the visitor wishes, they can enjoy them and consume km 0 products according to the season.
The house has been rehabilitated to receive quality tourism, offering comfort, tranquility and technology. The house has 3 spacious bedrooms, one of them with a jacuzzi, terraces with beautiful views of the Castillo de los Condes, a Castilian patio with access to private parking for guests. Living-dining room with fireplace, very bright.
The location is perfect, it is a quiet area 150 m from the Plaza Mayor, allowing visitors to enjoy cultural and festive events with privileged access. The house is rented exclusively. There are no common areas, the entire house is available for guests.
The house preserves the room distribution from the beginning of the century and even earlier, as there is an inscription from 1698. You can see old rooms, a cave-cellar with its original jars, the stable area, the hayloft, the winery, etc. During the rehabilitation, materials, farming tools and everyday utensils were recovered with ethnographic value of the activities that took place.
The house is just 25 minutes by car from Parque Warner Madrid, which makes our house a perfect accommodation if you want to visit the park and explore the area.
